hamilton happy new year all we're all blessed to be here today 2020 was full of major world shifting events and incredibly challenging financial emotional and mentally challenging times whether it's a frontline worker a small business owner a teacher a parent a grandparent a caregiver a friend or a neighbor as we reflect on the year we must first take a moment to remember those we lost this year especially those we lost from covet i have never been prouder to be a resident of hamilton or your mayor at the start of 2020 during the reorg meeting i said in 2020 and going forward into the new decade we will stay committed to promoting business culture volunteers spend special moments that make us all proud in 2020 those businesses worked harder than ever before to stay afloat with online curbside creative ways to reach their customers our grocery stores pivoted and our front line workers our health care workers our public health workers law enforcement public safety first responder food service workers public workers and more took great care of us our residents met the challenge too by forming committees supporting businesses and ordering from restaurants our volunteers nonprofits and churches stepped up and were incredible in 2020 with food banks helping a neighbor finding a special way to connect us we were still able to have special moments in 2020 in unique ways we still had the 16th of july much smaller but wonderful celebration a beautiful and special tree lighting virtual and outdoor arts we had a bunny going around with the police and fire truck we had santa going around with the police and fire truck and so much more in this wonderful town we are hamilton strong and as a community we came together while the world was forced to stay apart i am hopefully telling you i am hopeful in telling you things will be better in 2021 i would like to thank i would like to take a moment to thank deputy mayor gribben and lisa miley hal for working on the community goodwill committee and supporting residents and helping with those food banks and many other things i would like to thank the coronavirus economic task force headed by councilman oliva and richard raymond and they had many volunteers on both of these committees that there's two numer i cannot mention them all i'll miss somebody's name these committees did tremendous work we had the coronavirus outreach and communications brook sacco and jen hatfield uh and then we had uh so we were very blessed those three committees alone there's more but those three did a tremendous task and tremendous work for the town of hamilton i also like to thank and all day i went back and forth with this james donio jim donio and his powerful state networking has brought 1.3 million to hamilton 684 000 in npp funds that are going to go benefit and offset rent in the mpp district 684 thousand another approximately 150 000 for fema for reimbursement of some costs we had during the town had during the pandemic 235 000 which we already received uh through salary reimbursements to the federal government uh 300 000 i believe councilman geraldo is distributing approximately what three hundred thousand two hundred hundred thousand yes that'll be distributed to small businesses from the county and it's it was uh was 525 000 was given from small cities for a carver and hamilton and we're getting approximately 300 roughly 300 000. so jim donio i always call you the chief of staff you've you're you're tops in my book thank you very much uh denise mazzio denise mazzio stepped up big time mvp i always call her the mvp what a job she's done over the last nine months she's underpaid and overworked and we're going to make that right in 21 too denise so thank you for all your hard work frank zuber business administrator cool calm you can't ask for a better one i mean frank thank you for all your hard work done a tremendous job in keeping us all together thank you i'd like to thank chief friel chief real uh head headed the coronavirus uh safety task force captain hamilton with his uh chat with the chief and different things kept everybody in the loop kept everybody safe in the manpower over there the police department tremendous job stepped up big time thank you to the chief and thank you to all the men and women of the department thank you all i also have to take a minute to thank the eagle theater and uh and cassie yachavelli hrc hampton revitalization corporation main street richard raymond uh and some will say why the eagle theater because they did a lot of outreach through the coronavirus task force and main street is handling that money that 500 that 684 000 came from mtp thank you all rich raymond cassie you're doing a tremendous job i got to thank john ruffalo ben knott and the chamber tremendous work they've done tremendous job we're very thankful hamilton is very blessed to have organizations like this that stepped up and i have to thank the say one thing that whether i'm over my head or not uh the chief mr freel chief real you're doing one hell of a job and i want to say this and like i said this may be over the top i think it's one of the best yes votes i ever did sitting on council electing you as chief good man there sir you've done a hell of a job so far stay with it thank you councilman rodeo i appreciate that sir not a problem not a problem i also do remember the first time there mr malinsky uh got uh i was sitting on the zoning board that uh that year and he uh became our zoning uh our zoning solicitor and uh i remember 15 has said and and the thanks that everyone has given um you know we always say that you know hamilton is a strong community and boy when we get put to the test and when there are trying times um nothing makes that clearer in hamilton uh to see the town come together the way in which we did with the volunteers that have helped to serve on the committees as mayor as you mentioned i know from my committee with uh miss lisa howe who i can't thank enough on the community goodwill committee um it was just an amazing show of support from from volunteers and residents in this town and i i can't everyone else happy new year to everyone a happy new year everyone in the town i think a lot of us are excited to put 2020 behind us and look forward to the the positivity um you know that awaits us in in 2021 um councilman olivo this was the first of what i think will be many confusing council meetings between the o and the uh but i think i think we'll make it i think we'll get there looking forward and honored to start with you uh councilman for joni and rodeo i appreciate everything you have done for me over my first term and looking forward to continuing to work with you uh again um no matter i don't think my first term is my first year as councilman was quite like anybody else's uh first term um your first year so uh definitely taking a lot in and have learned a lot uh councilman jaralla and deputy mayor griffin and mayor gideon as well just want to say thank you to you uh to the entire council for uh for helping me learn and helping me god and to guide me along the way um and i know we thanked a lot of groups of people individually but i'd also like to thank the men and women of the public works department um because i know this has been a really challenging year for a lot of things that they're doing as well so i'd like to thank them for finding creative solutions and creative ways to step up and uh you know continue to keep our our town operating uh smoothly out there so uh everyone continue to stay safe it is gonna be a little bit of a longer earlier part of the year but i think once we get through this first quarter it's gonna be uh it's gonna get nice and smooth so uh everyone uh have a wonderful uh rest of january looking forward to seeing everybody again in january thank you thank you councilman oliver this is just the first physical and i'd be remiss if i didn't mention that i was happy to welcome a fellow steelers fan on the town council oh god we'll be watching playoff football this week i i don't know if i could say the same for the rest of council all right and i just i just wanted one more thing i want to tell hamidton uh all right the holidays are over uh and i thank you i know a lot of people had smaller muted gatherings but let's double down one more time let's wear a mask let's wash our hands let's try to uh to to stay to our own hop our own uh you know groups real tight group let's keep it tight for a couple weeks or there is some virus out there uh it's not quite as bad as all the predictions in new jersey uh after the first year so far but let's not you know we still don't have the numbers from new year's eve and and new year's that weekend so uh please i'm asking you to just give give them a couple weeks let this thing dry out a little bit hang in there please this this is a war and the first quarter like everybody said is going to be a little bumpy but we'll get through it if we just hang in there and double down one more time one more time because we want to all try to get as many as we could through this we've already lost enough thank you all uh if there's nothing for the good of the order with that i'd accept a motion to adjourn don't move first live a second all in favor all right good night gang we're jordan thank you all and thank you everybody thank you again thanks
