Bacon, Mr. Gibson, >> Harris, >> Morgan, >> Mr. Rodri, >> M. Miss apologize to the audience. I know apologize to our apologies. public agenda items only. Next we have stand up. 3.149,000 for library. Um, you already approved $200,000 for furniture in the high school library and $166,000 for the middle school library furniture. I don't understand. I'm sorry, my fell off. I don't understand why we're spending all that money on on men um because we still don't have we still don't have um librarians in there and that's a lot of money. $200,000 for furniture plus anotherund for um for um carpets. That's a lot of money. Um the teachers and I were thinking we could make it look really nice and So that's that seems like a lot. And also um 2.11 standard operating procedures 212 pages that I'm supposed to look through. We're supposed to look through negotiation where the conversation with with us because it has to do with us with our union members as well. standard operation. And then here we have 3.13. We're changing 32 ventilation units in um I think Avenue for uh $12,750. That's 400. No, for $48,000 that's $12,000 a unit. That's I don't know what that is. And it seems like you dig that out. That's like a lot. Seems like a lot. Um and then also 3.93.10 $10,000 for a lawyer for one of the board members when I think that has to do with something that happened with the city. I understand that when um We shouldn't be paying for committed against the board especially um using board the board solicitor. We should have outside attorney not the board solicitor and we also shouldn't have to pay for it. And I'm wondering if that um in addition to um the allegations that deals were made for $124,000 um about settlement. I'm wondering if that's why I'm wondering why maybe that's why our arbitrations have been cancelled. We have arbitrations that that need to be continued. We have people that want to come back to work, but Your lawyer's not help it for the to put it very simple. Number one, those items were in the funding in the budget that was approved by the board of education. And more importantly, I certainly believe that the budget is a great newer the middle school. We want you and those positions have been posted and we are actively searching for highly qualified individuals. That would certainly dis one was a well both of those positions and again that was appropriately on board the other changes to the 32 that it on the funding and board of budget to ensure that the infrastructure of the present day schools are new and that we're able to respond with efficiency throughout the district. throughout the funding that was allocated in the budget. part of a phase that was transcribing. Good evening. Good evening. Belo super ESP. So, in the board minutes, those who know who know what I just said. In the board minutes, um I'm addressing the uh for the last meeting. I am sorely disappointed in the behaviors that were conducted. It's a shame that you have others, when I mean others, doesn't matter black, white, Hispanic, whatever. Others who do not live in our community have the audacity to use our and ed y'all on to self cannibalize and turn on each other. How dare they for others tell you black and brown people to turn on each other in front of the whole world because whoever was watching online, the example you're setting for children is deplorable. Please think about what you're doing. They don't pay taxes. They don't pay rent here. They'll say our and they'll say us to influence you to make you think that they are one of us. They ain't like us. Please take note of that. So when I come up here, I've lived Pleas. Y'all live in Pleasantville. Those of you who are board members, take heed to that. Don't let somebody come up here and say us and our and pay. They're paying for something they're not. They're taking and when they take, they're taking their salary. They're taking your healthare and they're equivalent to their community. They're investing in their community. We are here. Pleasantville. Pleasantville. We need to invest in us. So when you lend the ear, lend it to Pleasantville first. Lend it to the children here first. My children are in this district. Some of the people saying us wouldn't even dare let their children register to be a student up in as an employee. They can but they both and they don't. So please keep that in mind when we're doing this. It is us. It's not them. Thank you. It's supposed to come from each advisor that the chair is the one who runs the committee people did not know. >> Yeah. I can answer that question. Okay. In a way that's still unacceptable because I had the conversation with him as well. Dr. I still understand why being put on a committee and They weren't told that they supposed to communication. So thereby we invite the audience to go to the show. provided in community. What we're saying is that family members because we have such a student who may or may not be impacted and need the opportunity to learn more about their rights and how they came to understand because I know it's a lot and everyone but my question still remains I'm not trying to say not to do this but I'm saying why is it not instruction when they They could just simply put us and they can use the auditorium. They can put they can use it for other things to get their message out and do it maybe a workshop or something like that. They can find different things for besides being on agenda for understanding to educate the people but we have different a lot of different things that other people would people would like to educate people about as well. And we should do that in this particular case. It is our staff through the green that is working in collaboration with this particular recent meeting and the highest recent activity student I feel facility and you are in this way of speaking to it's a district event hosted outside 501 instruction. So that's why So it's open to everyone. >> It is open to everyone. However, >> it is important that school. >> No, I understand. I'm saying what I'm saying what I'm hearing is instruction because it's instruction being given to our students. >> Exactly. Okay. >> I would encourage you to Mr. Yes, but I abain from part activities number 34 and part field number 35 number 34 field This morning You want my vote? >> Do you want my vote? Is it good? Good morning. public comment. Madam President, before we go to public, I just want to add that other things to do. I'd rather not have comments. Yes, I can bring that up. civilian, partial secretary for the part. He's looking at everybody's personal file. >> Yeah. I didn't hear you. >> There's a part secretary in HR and looking at our personelian weeks ago or two weeks ago. Okay. So, also we have I know for a fact there's five parttime custodians in the building just in high school that want to work full time. I don't understand. We we need fulltime people. We need to pay our people and not the people in Pleasantville and not outsource, not pay them part time. They need storage. They need to be part of part of our district. Same thing with security. How how are you going to have a parttime security guard at Walmart? You want them to make a relationship with our kids. You want to call down the kids and say, "Hey, no, come on. calm down. You know, somebody off the street they never saw before isn't going to have that relationship. We need fulltime security. We need more fulltime people working here with benefit. Um the Adobe design still doesn't work. It doesn't work. Um our attorney has not showed up. We not able to continue with our arbitrations because I literally drove to an arbitration and our attorney for the district didn't show up didn't show up. >> Wow. >> I was the only person representing um and I was very embarrassed. Everybody was there. People from state people everybody was there. Um and then from now Our arbitrations are being cancelled and we have people wanting to come back to work and we can't finish our station. We've already waited like a long time. So we we need the the attorney. Um I'd like to get the board agenda and took some of my time. So I'd like to get the board agenda on Fridays like you guys get them because I have to look through them as well. And also this room is freezing. There are other other rooms in the building that the kids are colder and they come in here because this room's warmer than some of the other classrooms. >> No, I'm not. I set up I set up the temperature stations in one of the rooms >> and the children are in there, >> right? Yes. >> I'm asking for anything and temperatures. My nose up here right now, four hours, the one class December. Okay. Um and also the vote that you just you just did on the 3.9. I'm not counted as counted as you know like not counted. They just don't happen. Look upbert. >> Um, I just really would like to get the board. I don't think I mean I do represent 560 people. I would like to think about the floor. We can talk. >> Wonder why. I wonder why. I don't know. Carol. So with that being said, attorney. What did you say last? Let me ask question. What did you say last time when you showed up in the court? What did she say to you? somebody. But then also said that he didn't know that he was appointed, but they were still even voted on it saying that our lawyers thought that she still wasn't good lawyer. That's why not showing up, >> but they want to build. But you also voted for them to continue, but they should know that because theymin All right. Now, I know maybe three, four years ago together. One of our committee members, one of our former member stated we agreed that we will not hire any more parttime that we will all we will hire fulltime and we all agree with that. I don't know I don't know if it passed or not but I know we agreed that we partire. So my question is what happened back same but they're not being full and we're still having part and I know like I said we said we wasn't going We have people that's parttime that can look into making them benefit and that was for security. So I don't know what happened last time. committee reported out here fulltime. So I don't know what happened in the last three years they want to be full time how many employees we have out right now. how it affect our budget for um I'm sure some grievances of some of those people. This is why I feel like we have Miss Bailey. So I had a question in regards to you know the members of the board and um if anyone is different I know previously Washington and this I don't know if that's stilling but if not Maybe that's something that could be put to effect because I know that teachers communities not here know that teachers aren't showing up because they're worried about retaliation from certain people. Um and so you know everybody can't sit here all three of my kids for the last three. So, um um I know everybody's not showing up, but if maybe each member could be responsible for a different school district so that we can hear different grievances and issues with each school can be addressed, voice and representative um in these board meetings also that way appropriate allocation I'm sorry that way appropriate allocation of funds can occur. Kids don't need $200,000 of library furniture. Right. Um, they eat edible lunches. I don't know if any of y'all have seen the lunches that are being served to these children, but it's worth there's mold in our school. There's mice in our school and there's and there's roaches in our school. All right, that's what's going on. We don't need furniture. We don't need 200,000. That's a house, right? For one library, two libraries. We don't need that, right? That's not what we need. I need edible lenses. I need I need the roach infestation to be handled. Right. They said that the middle school the the paint job that paid $10,000 for is trash. So you might want to go check that out and get a refund as well. So obviously the heat system needs to be addressed. I had a a half hour notice before I had to pick my my elementary school suiting up in North Main maybe about a month ago because the heat there is not working. I know we're working on a new beautiful and all that, but our schools that are currently functioning and housing our children now need to be addressed and fix right. It's freezing in here. >> I really appreciate things for asking for bills and different things because obviously the money I'd like to address real quick and I see my time is running out but I'd like to address the behavior of this school board member Mr. Dixon. He threatened me in the last schoolboard meeting. Everybody up here was here to see it. So that's why I like to bring it up and I like a few more seconds to talk about that. I make a motion to give her another. So there was public comment made. I really I'll let you know what we said after the president left before the meeting was over. I said, you know, there was a motion on the floor. I'm new to all of this. I'm just getting used to it. There was a motion on the floor against the president, right? Everybody said what they voted. The gentleman here voted no and I you know as I said because I'm a part of the community and I made a public comment and I said well he needs to go too that's my opinion I have my right to state that so I said he needs to go to the people that I'm sitting with Mr. Gibson then said you can meet me outside there was a lot of us here to witness that not only is he a man that's representing he's a man first of all and I'm a female of the public but he's representing So his behavior was unbecoming not only as a adult man but as a board member of a community you shouldn't be representing president he's verbally abusive and he's threatened not one but two women at our last school board. So I just want the people that weren't here or maybe missed it. That is what occurred and a lot of us here. Thank you for your time. Thank you. Good evening. So that brings me to the point of my child getting in trouble and written up for having a sweatshirt on. I'm sorry. I'm not going out and buying sweatshirts upon sweatshirts upon sweatshirts if they don't have a hood. They can't wear it. They're getting written up. That's why I'm not doing that. Okay. wanting to fix the heating problems in all of the students. That's number one. Number two, I'm going to piggyback off Miss Bailey's uh comments about Mr. I was the second woman that he had made to and um used vulgar language outside in the parking lot while he talked about a lovely person outside who not to mention left our meeting last week. If you cannot handle the pressure, you should not be in the heat. Period at all. Because let me tell you something. I have three that's coming up in this school district. I've never ever dealt with a board that one can't get along, can't come to terms. We're here for the children. Last time I checked, that's why y'all are all pointed up here to take care of our children in all the whole entire district. Also to everyone here and listen online, make note the board members demeanor, behavior and body language and cyber marks amongst each other. Please show up and vote when it's time for you to vote because this is uncalled for. And for a man to sit here and verbally abuse women, I don't want you to be representing my child whatsoever. And my child is not only undefeated sports carrying upwards, we're also undefeated and top We need positive resolutions. So, whom was here last board meeting and present? I would like to know what are we doing about the threat that was made publicly and online? Yes, these are live streams. Okay. Okay. These are live streams. So, I would like to know how are you holding that board member accountable because we've all heard it. Okay. Thank you. Thank you. Next, we have Mr. again. And um I believe that when I said that we were going to have accountability this year, I hope that the board members do. I appreciate the parents, the other parents coming out because I've been a lone wolf out here. So, I would like to make sure we have more to the pack, but um in all seriousness, it's just unimaginable that you know, we have people predominantly women here and the one man which I was online watching the live stream just to piggy back off that I heard it loud and clear just just to I don't know who he was talking to, but I heard it loud and clear and It's just not appropriate at all. In reference to the students and supporting the students, I want to make sure that this board is aware that this district has been in disrepair for decades. While a superintendent after superintendent after superintendent, that's what I keep going on have come through the district. So, a lot of the things that weren't watched over, there's a lot of kink. There's a lot of kink that has to be dealt with maintenance facilities wise, which I would like to recommend is that maybe you get a maintenance or facilities like actual like maintenance or custodial report from the head of custodial so that you know when at least maybe it's regular filters for the for the on things if that is being done or we have a warranty because it seems like a lot of money goes out to extract stuff but then they're coming back and getting more money. So I don't know if there is like a contract for warranty on work and how long that is but it needs to be looked into. One thing I wanted to say in addition to that is the pool. The condition of the pool still needs work. My two daughters were taking swimming less and they refused to go in there because they said it's filthy and it's disgusting. So the I know for a fact I have pictures with the board. If you want them I can bring them in. But things that have been in disrepair have yet to be done. So when people talk about it's dudification it's not because these things have been in disrepair for a long time. You asked the question about the library stuff. Yes. that that needs to be had. But also other districts don't have librarians. I know that for a fact. Other districts don't have. So this is a staffing issue statewide. I know that because I look at the different things. So that is one thing that is not exclusive to Pleasantville, but this whole repair and everything really needs to be looked into. And if I have a moment for the board, I would like to honor because I didn't hear anyone honor um our basketball player rare who had gotten a thousand points the girls basketball team like outside of when my son is here. I've watched her. She worked so hard. She worked so hard when she was the only one running up and down that court that was competent and able to play the game. She never never gave up. She never gave up. She supported her teammates even through injury. She worked hard through the years. She deserves accolade. She deserves to be honored. She is a upstanding student, respectful to anybody who needs her. She has a beautiful spirit and she worked hard for those spous when it's presented, if hopefully it is presented, that Jan gives her due credit. And it's not because she's suspended. It's because she worked hard for that. And our women female sports need to be celebrated because there's whatever. But that a thousand points from a female that hasn't been done in almost 20 years here in Pleasantville. So she needs to be giving her flowers. Thank you, Miss President. That is very um it will be coming very soon. I just want to say on behalf of myself, we had to say also apologize to myself because it's not like I can't for five years now. has been through a lot. We have been through a lot of you know apologize for I do have but all the time. They can yell in what we have to make decisions on. You can't imagine what we have to do. That's why we have committee. So when we have committee members, we discuss everything in the committee. That's where we do all our work. So like I said once again, do you have anything to say? >> I want to thank everybody for coming out. I understand We were in executive session for a long time and I know how cold it is in here and I truly apologize. I apologize for being here so long. We are here to represent you, the students, the community, the educators. Um, and as we sit up here, no one has to sit through being disrespected or anything like that. Um the allegations were were hard to hear and I apologize because I was not here at that meeting. But really continue bringing your concerns. Um I took copious notes, continue bringing your comments. We want to hear your voices um in all types of languages. I appreciate the Spanish that I heard today. Um but please believe that um all of us here I mean, I've worked uh with everyone here in one way, shape, or form. We're passionate, we care, and we want to move the school district in a positive direction for all. So, thank you for us. Thank you for being patient. Continue coming out, and let's put the president first and foremost. I just want to say thank you for coming out. We appreciate you guys support. I am I am the one person you can find no matter what you guys know. Um I'm going to continue to fight you guys. I'm going to continue to be open. I'm going to continue to uphold myself and other board members to the standards and open. So just hold us accountable. Just make sure we do the right thing to do right. If we're not, come out and let us know. Um, my biggest thing, you guys know, is I like to put things on record. I need people to know. I don't like to hide things. I don't I don't I don't I don't live in this. I'm never going to live in this. So, anything you guys think we need to know, we're not as board members able to secure with day-to-day operations. But I would suggest to maybe the superintendent and the president to put a suggestion box in every school where people um submissions or grievances or issues because we're going to be honest here. People are being retaliated and when we see it, we hear it. We know it. So again, as the community, as the voters, just hold us accountable, step up, come to the light, let us know what's going on. And if you feel like you're going to be retaliated on, I'm a person to trust. I'll never say who said what, but I will fight. So just understand if you have no coming out. I didn't know who said it. to work and I like how we can always Just want to thank everyone for coming out. Thank everyone for watching. Um I ask you guys to continue to come out. Um if you guys can make it, you know, we as board members have board emails. Um you can send it yours is to us and we can review it and discuss the issues at the board. Please know that we do hear you, we do see you, and um we're here to work for you. Um so again, you can hold us accountable for what we decide, what we say and what we do. Good night. Just want to say thank you to everyone. Also, I want to put on record. I would like to respect. I'm 39 years old. I'm not I talk to your respect. I would like to speak to you. We're happy to hear that the board member did apologize to the ladies. I'm also um happy that Miss Watson always come up and let us know what's actually going on and what's not going on because without people coming to the microphone to let us know and we don't deal with the dayto-day operations, we will not know nothing's going wrong in our district. All we hear about is what's going right. you don't hear what's going wrong and what's needed. I'm hoping that we get back to where we had said about four years ago about not hiring part- timers unless they want to be part- timer. It takes the part- timerrs that wants to be fulltime to make them fulltime. And I'm leave it like that. I just want to thank everyone else for coming out. I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight. I think my colleagues all have said it. Thank you for your patience and thank you for braving this call with us and hopefully we uh I apologize if you feel that um I was talking to you that wasn't like you should say I'm just you know if anything okay I apologize. We just like to thank everyone for coming out. We like to thank all you do and what you do. Um thank us. All in favor? I
